Vrijdag! Vandaag staat in het teken van een mooie opdracht: vijf boeken die ik heb gekoppeld aan een herinnering. Boeken waarvan ik dus nog precies weet waar ik was toen ik ze las, of in welke periode ik ze las. Een mooie opdracht, maar ook een moeilijke. De meeste boeken lees ik ‘gewoon’ thuis. Op vakantie neem ik zelfs niet altijd een boek mee omdat ik dan bezig ben met vakantie vieren. Shocking, I know. Het was dus nog best pittig om vijf gepaste boeken te vinden… Ik ben in mijn geheugen gaan graven en heb toch nog vijf boeken weten te vinden met een voor mij leuke/mooie/bijzondere boekige herinnering.

Williams is vreselijk aardig en het was een enorm leuk gesprek. Na afloop signeerde hij mijn editie van War of the Flowers: ‘For Nora – thanks for the interview, which was more like a nice conversation with a new friend.’ En nóg beter: ik werd uitgenodigd voor het diner ’s avonds met hem en zijn minstens net zo aardige vrouw Deborah Beale en een aantal andere fans. Prachtige dag. (fair enough: van het interview herinner ik me meer dan van het boek).
